Diminutive but dynamic, Jennifer Jason Leigh really does excel at playing bad girls, from the prostitute in Last Exit to Brooklyn to the flatmate from hell in Single White Female. Here she's a greedy wife who poisons her husband and, thinking him dead, buries him. It's her performance that elevates this made-for-cable thriller above the norm, but it's still a warmed-over pastiche that runs like a modern-day film noir crossed with The Twilight Zone, a sort of retread of a James M Cain novel by a poor man's Roger Corman.
