Paul Rhys plays a soldier returned from India to find his Pembrokeshire home in the midst of controversy. All roads in the area are subject to tolls controlled by the grasping Lord Sarn (Peter O'Toole) and the locals are up in arms. Dressed in drag, Anthony (Rhys) gathers together a group of locals (also dressed in drag) and thus attired they wage a campaign against the tolls. This curious story has an interesting history, as the original screenplay was written by none other than Dylan Thomas in 1948 but never used. . It's fun, but you do wonder whether Thomas intended the knockabout romp, complete with low humour, which you see here. O'Toole, as so often in latter times, is completely over the top as the drunken Lord Sarn.
