Judd Nelson looked set for a healthy Hollywood career as a fellow member of the so-called Brat Pack of young actors that included Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen. But since The Breakfast Club, his career nosedived. This little-seen thriller, though, was a rare blip on his downward career curve - a riveting, splendidly acted serial killer chiller that deserved greater success. Nelson is the homicidal maniac known as the `Sunset Killer' who slays residents of Los Angeles and taunts the cops on the case with messages scrawled on telephone book pages. Director William Lustig tightens the screws and doesn't relieve the pressure until the climactic showdown, utilising several Hitchcockian touches along the way. It's just such a shame that it didn't help Nelson's career. It should have earned him parts in much bigger and showier movies.
