Even after the debacle of Oscar, Sylvester Stallone still had the idea he could play comedy. Stallone's a cop whose 4ft 11in mother (Golden Girl Estelle Getty - terrible) sets his career in reverse gear from the moment of her arrival at his apartment. Overplayed by everyone, the ensuing plot is trying in the extreme. 'This whole thing is just ridiculous,' laments Stallone at one point, and you really have to agree, although it raises a few laughs along the way. Sly wisely returned to well-choreographed muscle-man action with Cliffhanger for his next movie.
