A small-scale but tense and exciting gangster film about a killer who targets the US President. Together with his death squad, he commandeers a house in the town of Suddenly, in order to lie in wait for the presidential train. Frank Sinatra is surprisingly effective as the edgy assassin, and Sterling Hayden and Nancy Gates are particularly good as two of his hostages in a purposeful cast, well directed by Lewis Allen.
