George Newton (Grodin) is the president of the Newton Auto Air Freshner company.
He has a traditional family. His wife Alice Newton (Hunt) no longer works so that she can stay home and take care of their three kids.
George is the kind of man who thinks the best pets are goldfish, and absolutely hates dogs.
His wife and children, on the other hand, love them. So when a puppy who has escaped from a pair of dognappers (Platt and Stanley Tucci), finds his way to the Newtons' house, their entire lifestyle is disrupted.
Beethoven, as he is named, grows into a giant of a dog...a St Bernard. Beethoven constantly tries George's patience by digging up the houseplants, leaving muddy paw prints on his suit and slobbering on absolutely everything.
This fun canine adventure is definitely one for the kids, and will keep them laughing and entertained with its endless comic moments.
Parents, be warned, if you don't have a dog before your child watches this film, there might be some pressure afterwards to get one.
