An Indian youth is ambivalent about the white society he lives in, in this rites-of-passage drama. His path to manhood is finally achieved when he gains recognition fighting alligators in the film's centrepiece, which although nicely done, obviously rips-off Jaws - not least in the music that closely mimics the famous score of the shark thriller. Ray Tracey gives a sensitive performance in the title role, but sadly that isn't enough to outweigh the negative aspects here. The issues not dealt with adequately include the white man's treatment of native Americans, simply dividing people into either good guys or bad guys.
