A drippy romance with neither wit nor originality. Karen Allen took three steps back from the prospect of stardom in Raiders of the Lost Ark as a divorced young woman stranded in Paris who starts an affair with a dashing banker. He's married, but then she should have been suspicious of anyone with the name of Xavier De La Perouse. Director Richard Marquand even fails to make the best use of one of the most picturesque cities in Europe, but he did strike a home run with his next effort - the thriller Jagged Edge.
