This dreadful remake of Alfred Hitchcock's classic thriller replaces post-war intrigue with dreary Cold War posturing. John Shea takes on Cary Grant's role, here playing a CIA agent who becomes involved with the daughter (Jenny Robertson) of an American traitor. Seeking the latest plans from the dastardly Soviets, the Americans arrange for her to become romantically involved with a Russian arms dealer. But our smitten agent doesn't bank on his new love marrying the opposition. None of the shenanigans on offer come close to the passion generated by Grant and Ingrid Bergman, while the political wranglings are all dated. At least watching this tells you how good Hitchcock was.
