This grim story of a mother who goes to jail to keep her daughter from an ex-husband whom she suspects is molesting the child is certainly heart-wrenching stuff. Meg Tilly excels in the central role but Michael O'Keefe is somewhat shortchanged as the father figure and remains one-dimensional. Director David Greene moves events along at a fair clip as the mother's desperation mounts at the failings of an impotent legal system.
