Nothing in this third Psycho sequel would push you on to the edge of your seat. There are few chills, not much blood is spilt and the script is full of psycho-babble. Made for American cable TV, it does star Anthony Perkins once more as Norman Bates, the role that haunted him throughout his career. But former E. T. child star Henry Thomas is also aboard, playing Norman as a boy. Director Mick Garris was an uninspired choice and one prepared to pillage wholesale from Hitchcock's original classic for ideas. The second and third films in this series both had merit, but here the only thing film fans should hold on for is a bizarre cameo by John Landis, the director of An American Werewolf in London, as a radio engineer.
