It's nice to see that unsung supporting actress Pamela Reed get a lead role in this true-life weepie, and she has the talent to tackle the role of a woman who committed armed robbery, then escapes from prison to sustain a desperate search for her two young children, kidnapped by their father. A pity the pace set by debutante director Mimi Leder is often so slow, as the script has something to say and says it in realistic terms, examining all the undertones of this complex story.
