An unintentionally funny but still lively Stephen King horror film about a family of furless werecats that can change their shape to look like human beings. They also possess superhuman powers and, so that the horror content of the story is not neglected, have to drain the lifeforce from a virgin to survive, though you would have thought a good fat steak would do them more good. Somehow the nearest local virgin (Mädchen Amick) manages to survive the attempts of the werecat son (Brian Krause) to deprive her of said force so as to feed mum (Alice Krige), while all about her are meeting grisly deaths. The werecats' only natural enemies are real cats, which converge on their house in hordes, although even some of these turn out to have less than nine lives, and it's left to a police cat called Clovis to keep Amick's lifeforce intact. In fairness, King's script occasionally goes for real gallows humour, but never settles for one brand of horror and emerges as an uneasy if action-packed mix for fans of the genre.
