This star-studded story of a tiger that escapes from a travelling circus to terrorise a small American town never really gets off the ground. When the tiger is being hunted in the fog, excitement mounts. But there is, alas, too little of the tiger, and all too much of a young Pamela Franklin, sporting an occasionally convincing American accent, as the sheriff's daughter who wants the tiger saved and not shot. The script does have some sardonic lines for a Disney film, particularly commenting on the reasons, all of them bad, why people have come to join the tiger hunt. The strong cast, particularly Brian Keith, Vera Miles, Merry Anders, Sabu (his last film) and Una Merkel, does sterling work and the climax is exciting.
