A polished production and lighter-than-air characters give this romantic trifle the look of several episodes of The Love Boat strung together. John Ritter hardly breaks into a sweat (although he does shed the occasional tear) as a TV soap opera writer looking for the perfect woman after a messy divorce. Raspy-voiced Polly Draper (from thirtysomething), an unhappily married TV producer, is clearly that woman and, despite all obstacles, they're soon together in a soft-focus clinch. A gooey piece that makes a coffee commercial look like serious romantic drama.
