MGM criminally wasted some of its brightest young musical talent in this college caper, which badly needed both Technicolor and a decent script. At least the song-and-dance numbers aren't bad and the youthful enthusiasm of Debbie Reynolds, Barbara Ruick, Bobby Van and Bob Fosse (the two guys later played two of Ann Miller's suitors in Kiss Me Kate, a film worthier of their dancing skills) fills them with fizz. Lurene Tuttle, who plays Mrs Hammer, is co-star Ruick's real-life mother.
