Originally planned as a comeback vehicle for Doris Day, this cable TV movie eventually got off the ground (just) with Diane Keaton as an author of children's books who falls for presidential candidate Hugh Hathaway (ED Harris) on whom she had a crush at school. The author's scarlet past makes you see why Day wouldn't have wanted to do this but then again not even these elements can pep up a tepid script and too-leisurely pace. Keaton is over-bright, Harris looks fed up. Even so, they handle their lines with some aplomb.
