This psychological thriller is as fascinating a jigsaw puzzle as the screen has ever presented: only the ending may disappoint you. But David Hemmings is fine as the baffled ex-drug addict hero. And there are enigmatic performances from such distinguished players as Dame Flora Robson, Roland Culver, Arthur Lowe, Yootha Joyce, Daniel Massey, Wilfred Hyde White and Mona Washbourne.
