After years of toiling at the coal face of series television in Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie, Michael Landon returned to the big screen in this fact-based adventure to play Australian photo-journalist John Everingham whose daring rescue of his Laotian girlfriend from under the noses of the Pathet Lao made headlines in 1978. The movie was intended for the cinema but, after various behind-the-scenes shenanigans, it ended up on American television under the less-than-inspired title Love is Forever. Landon's performance seems unduly laid back in the face of the all out villainy of Jurgen Prochnow while Edward Woodward plays to excellent effect in a supporting role.
