A splendid star trio head the cast of this intriguing thriller which, if it doesn't quite live up to the promise of its appetizing early sequences, nevertheless remains very entertaining and will keep you guessing. The plot (written by Peter Stone, who scripted Charade) has so many twists and turns that not even Edward Dmytryk's heavy-handed direction can muff everything; and he really lets his hair down in the film's best scene, when Gregory Peck finds an old acquaintance brutally done to death.
