The coincidences between the real life of Burt Reynolds and his B L Stryker character continued to mount as production churned on through 22 TV movies until the final axe fell on production in 1990. Filming is set in Palm Beach, where Reynolds was raised as a child. The teenage Reynolds won a football scholarship to Florida State University, becoming an All-Star Southern Conference halfback. So it is fitting that Stryker's college football background provides the backbone for the storyline here. A welcome diversion from the routine nature of the action is the involvement of Cicely Tyson, best known for her appearances in the Roots mini-series and numerous award-winning TV movies.
