Young Fred (The Wonder Years) Savage plays a youngster suffering from muscular dystrophy who finds himself trapped in a 'care facility' run with draconian cruelty by harsh head nurse Ellen Burstyn. The lad's fight to live as normal a life as possible ends up with him taking the nursing home to court. As with most disease-of-the-week TV movies, this has the usual quota of built-in melodrama and heart-tugging sentimentality. Having said that, fine performances from Savage and especially Burstyn lift the drama clear of the average.
