This could have been a moving story of rediscovered love winning out in the face of adversity, but it fails to even light the flame of passion, let alone turn it into a roaring fire. Stacy Keach and Teri Garr both seem as if their characters have been cut from cardboard. He's a Vietnam surgeon, she's his Army nurse wife. In a slight twist to the way these stories usually unfold, it's the wife who gets caught and ends up spending 10 tortuous years in a Vietnamese PoW camp. Back home and not sure if his wife is alive, Keach begins an affair with Cathy Lee Crosby. Crosby's skill gives a suggestion of how different this TV film could have been if only its stars had taken her lead.
