Danny Aiello is a manic-depressive middle-aged film director who has a sudden panic attack that his latest film is going to be a huge flop. Why this should happen now is anyone's guess. His 'film', about a group of kids who for some unknown reason decide to launch a giant pickle into space, is as bad as all his others, which have been flops anyway. Alas, not only do we get to see clips of this hilarious (not) sci-fi epic but there's a third film-within-the-film, the one that Aiello's character dreams of making. If it wasn't for the generous helpings of cameos from the likes of Isabella Rossellini, Dudley Moore, Little Richard and Ally Sheedy, this turkey would have been left forgotten at the bottom of the freezer compartment. As it is, this is badly over-done and gaggingly dry and no amount of pickle is going to spice it up.
