This was one of the last films to star real life couple Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy, who often played husband and wife on screen during more than 50 years of acting together. In this touching, acclaimed TV movie, they play Sam and Cora Peek. When Cora dies, Sam takes in a snow-white dog that's new to the area. His grown-up daughters, who can't see the animal, fear for their father's sanity. But the dog helps Sam to realise just how fulfilling his life and relationship with Cora have been. Cronyn delivers a magical performance - possibly the most touching of his distinguished career - and is greatly helped by the confident direction of Glenn Jordan, a five-times Emmy Award winner.
