Award-winning playwright David Mamet's two-hander, set at an American university, is yet another example of gripping theatre becoming dull cinema. An arrogant, upwardly mobile professor is challenged by a young woman student who has failed to understand his course, then is accused of incompetence and sexual harassment. Although William H Macy is fine as the academic, Debra Eisenstadt remains deeply irritating as the belligerent student. Worthwhile for Macy, Mamet's dialogue and the thought-provoking story.
