A grimly intense big-budget sci-fi thriller, high on adventure and gory action, which could have done with a stronger performance than Christopher Lambert's. He's ex-soldier John Brennick, imprisoned in a hi-tech, high-security super-jail after his wife gets pregnant in an over-populated, Big Brother-type world. None of the plot makes much sense, but it's a feast for fans of futuristic action.
