This gentle, heartwarming comedy stars then husband-and-wife team Cary Grant and Betsy Drake as a real-life couple who gather an extended family around them. They start, on impulse, by taking on a withdrawn 13-year-old girl who soon becomes a member of the family and, before you know it, they're knee deep in kids, all of them incorrigible little scene-stealers, especially little George 'Foghorn' Winslow. It's all good fun and largely manages to avoid the maudlin sentimentality to which it could so easily have succumbed. Grant, as ever, makes it all look natural and he and Drake spark well together, as indeed they should have! Original title: Room for One More.
