You could be forgiven for believing that you were watching the airline spoof comedy Airplane! rather than a recreation of a terrifying real-life mid-air incident. Although there are some gripping moments, unintentional laughs are also aboard as the top skin is ripped off the fuselage of a Hawaiian jetliner and stewardess Nancy Kwan is sucked out into the big blue yonder. Ominous music signposts trouble a mile off and a glut of flashbacks designed to make you care about the plight of the people involved merely drag out the agony of waiting for the arrival of the end credits. The special effects are not special at all, involving little more than huge fans blowing air in the faces of the trapped passengers.
