Alan Alda as a nasty piece of work? Surely not. But yes, in this engrossing TV movie he plays a tough advertising executive who invites some clients (and forces some staff members) to go white water rafting. The trip ends in tragedy and the unrepentant Alda ends up being taken to court by two of the victims' widows. The white water scenes are excitingly done and director Robert Butler also maintains tension in the courtroom. A strong supporting cast includes the reliable Robert Loggia, Peter Gallagher and Bruce Altman. But they're all overshadowed by Alda, giving a fine performance that proves he can be hissable with the best of them.
