Lightning Jack Kane - bungling bank robber and the fastest gun alive - holds a young mute hostage and cries: 'One word and you're dead! ' That sets the level of humour for this outdoor action movie, co-produced and written by and starring Paul Hogan as the aforementioned Jack. Pat Hingle and LQ Jones contribute tart cameos in this easy-going ramble, but Cuba Gooding Jr is forced into some overripe reactions as the mute who becomes the ageing outlaw's sidekick. Amiable enough if you turn a blind eye to the film's action and comedy shortcomings.
