Quite jolly, if still very much a sequel, this canyon caper takes up the story of city slicker Billy Crystal at a time when, on the eve of his 40th birthday, he's having nightmares about having buried Jack Palance's trail boss (from the first film) alive.
Discovering a treasure map in the hat Palance gave him, Crystal not unnaturally sets out to find the million dollars in gold that Palance's daddy is alleged to have stolen from the Western Pacific Railroad in 1908.
Taking his friend Phil (Daniel Stern) and (unintentionally) his own gabby brother (Jon Lovitz), Crystal hits the trail. Of course there are bad guys, stampedes, hazardous passages, and Palance again - a touch over the top this time as his own twin brother - also after the gold.
The story doesn't hang together too well if you think about it, but enough wisecracks rattle around the marvellous scenery for you not to dwell on cracks in the plot.
