This is a rough, nasty, even vicious little number, with a really devastating, hackle-raising kick in the tail and an excellent role for Shannen Doherty, once of Beverly Hills 90210. She's a high-school cheerleader who falls heavily for the motorcycle boy who rides back into town, trailing a criminal record behind him. One mean, even psychotic dude, he's soon back in jail after their fateful fling but, as the title indicates, not for long. There are echoes of Pretty Poison here, in a film that has no surplus footage and actually does capture some of the feel of the better drive-in movies of the late Fifties. Doherty's performance is a real eye-opener, with Antonio Sabato Jr almost as good as the lad in leather. And Oscar-winner Adrien Brody's in it too. It represented director William Friedkin's best work in some while.
