Joanne Whalley-Kilmer lacks charisma and power in her star role as a single-mother jury member on a big Mafia trial in which ambitious DA Gabriel Byrne hopes to convict vicious mobster Armand Assante. Assante sends corrupt cop William Hurt to force Whalley-Kilmer to acquit him. With a weary plotline and over-familiar characters, the pulp fiction clichés pile up high in this slackly handled, unconvincing legal thriller, but Byrne and Hurt prove capable performers and it is watchable if judged by TV movie standards.
