Earthbound comes to mind when describing this teen movie set around a Ohio high school. Californian teen Mitchell (Shane McDermott) is forced to leave his cool surfing world behind when he's sent to stay with relatives in Cincinnati. At school, a mean gang of hockey toughs takes a dislike to him. But they hadn't reckoned with his rollerblading skills... Naturally there's a pretty girl (Brittney Powell) involved in the mechanical script, which also fails to produce characters more substantial than cardboard. Stewart Copeland provided the rock score, but even he is off-form. The only redeeming feature is the rollerblading, much of which is pretty good, especially the race sequence around the back streets of the city. Younger kids might enjoy this one, in fact, for the action. The now star-billed Jack Black has a featured role in this, his second film.
