A highly resistible, flatly-animated mixture of cartoon and live-action. Bespectable wimp Macaulay Culkin learns the noble art of self-respect when a library comes to life and his animated self has to reach the exit, with the help of talking books, through a Jekyll and Hyde mansion, past a fire-breathing dragon, pirates and Moby Dick. Sounds good, and it could have been if Disney's animators had got their hands on it. But this Saturday morning TV-style animation just won't do, reducing the adventures to something that's one-dimensional, without character, and sometimes even tedious.
