An intensely annoying one-joke romantic comedy whose good ideas are all spent inside the first six minutes. Palaeontologist Amanda Pays can read people's minds through ESP, which explains why she keeps bashing suitors on the boko or in the breadbasket. But muscular yuppie Mark Frankel teaches self-belief - and refuses to quit after three knockdowns in the first two rounds. Before long she's in the sack with a blindfold on, but misunderstandings have their usual way before true love triumphs. Frankel leans heavily on his puppy dog charm; Pays is okay but lacking in real emotional appeal. Thirty years ago Rock Hudson and Doris Day might just have made it work, unencumbered as they would have been by director Gary Sinyor's ponderous cameras and bludgeoning scriptwork.
