Oo-er, the next Karate Kid is a girl! Well, at least it's an original idea, and provides a first pivotal role for Hilary Swank, who from this humble beginning went on to be a double Oscar winner. Alas, this time the film's main fight is with the script's clichés, but Noriyuki 'Pat' Morita again raises the spirits as the wise and wonderful karate mentor, Mr Miyagi, hero to millions of kids.
