Unfortunately, young kids will be bored silly by much on offer here. Julia Nickson-Soul - the surname comes from her marriage to Starsky and Hutch star David Soul - is a privileged daughter of a doctor who loses everything when the Japanese invade Shanghai in 1941. She ends up tortured and sent to a firing squad, but that's not the end of the story. The acting is good, it's the pacing and limp direction that's at fault.
