Gary Fleder
Born: 1963
Where: Norfolk, Virginia, USA
Fleder made a smooth transition first from student films to television and then to features, including the well-received Kiss the Girls.
His student short Terminal Round, a 8-minute look into boxing, garnered him attention and thriller Air Time opened eyes to his talent at the 1992 Sundance Festival.
He cut his commercial teeth directing two episodes of HBO's popular Tales From the Crypt series and landed the prestigious post of helming TV sci-fi movie The Companion.
Fleder made his feature directing debut with Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead and on the strength of that signed a two-year development deal with New Line Cinema in April 1997.
His second film, the dark, moody thriller Kiss the Girls followed in the footsteps of Seven and Silence of the Lambs, but patterned much of its visual style after 70s movies like The Exorcist.
Don't Day A Word, with Sean Bean and Brittany Murphy, followed alongside the disappointing Imposter.
Recent work includes the all-star Runaway Jury with Gene Hackman, John Cusack and Dustin Hoffman.
