Incredibly downbeat yarn of attempted rape, miscarriages and life in a mental institution - all based on a true-life story. You've got to admire Victoria Principal's pluck in taking on such a demanding role in the kind of thing that might have made gripping cinema entertainment. But neither she nor the rest of the cast is up to the demands of the story in this small-screen version, which is a turn-off in more ways than one. Robert Vaughn's lecherous, influential father-in-law is a tired amalgam of roles he's played before.
