Made a decade before My Life as a Dog catapulted him to international recognition, this was the debut film from Swedish director Lasse Hallstrom (who would go on in Hollywood to make What's Eating Gilbert Grape). As with most of his earliest work, it has certain autobiographical qualities (including naming the central character Lasse), and features Brasse Brannstrom, who would go on to become a Hallstrom regular, in the lead role and co-writing the screenplay. The plot, about a young man with a wandering eye, is a slight, fluffy affair, that resonates with a youthful exuberance.
