Surfing movies never were strong on storylines, relying on the massive waves for their impact. Director Carl Prechezer just barely scrapes a plot out of this dated British straggler in the field, about a surfer (a miscast Sean Pertwee) who, nearing 30, has to decide between his girlfriend and those big blue waves. Quite a lot of clumsy comedy is injected in an attempt to enliven the project, but poor performances (Catherine Zeta Jones's is about the best) are so thick on the ground that it's difficult to raise any interest in the outcome. Most unconvincing throughout: almost like a 'Carry On' film trying to retain credibility as well as raising a smile.
