Gregory Nava
Born: April 10, 1949
Where: San Diego, California
Director and producer Nava is best known for his first two features, The Confessions of Amans, which won the Best First Feature Award at the Chicago International Film Festival; and El Norte, which earned an Oscar nomination for best screenplay.
His wife Anna Thomas co-wrote both successful projects, although Nava's first attempt at big-budget Hollywood filmmaking, A Time of Destiny in 1988, amounted to nothing much.
In 1995 Nava received the Jury Prize Award for My Family, Mi Familia at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
