Cult French director Luc (Nikita, Léon) Besson assembles a bright, energetic cast in Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman and Milla Jovovich for his deliriously flashy sci-fi fantasy adventure. Willis enjoys himself hugely as 23rd-Century taxi driver Korben Dallas, who has a strange encounter with a young woman (Jovovich) when she crash-lands on his cab. They link up to become involved in a madcap race to save the planet from an evil force threatening to engulf it. Like a fast and gaudy fairground ride, it'll either make you sick or exhilarated, or both, though it probably helps to have a cola and popcorn at hand, and be under 20, for full enjoyment. A lavish, high-spirited, fast-paced recreation of the comic books Besson loved as a kid, the story is junk but its wild realisation is everything. Made in the UK, its great special effects won a BAFTA award.

It not only has a fantastic cast and great special effects, but I have been reading the reviews and no one has mentioned how funny this film is. This was filmed in 1997, and I decided to wastch this recently on a day off work (not taking a sickie) and it has not dated at all. I would urge everyone to watch this especially if you enjoyed Leon or Nikita. I have not see a bad Luc Besson film yet.
