Hollywood came calling for the Yorkshireman after his performance as reluctant stripper Dave into the international hit, The Full Monty.
Hired aged 15 as a stagehand at York's Theatre Royal, he managed to land the role of Bottom in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
After graduating from London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he immediately landed a role in TV's Band of Gold.
In 1996, Addy secured a long-standing featured role in Ben Elton's The Thin Blue Line before he was cast in The Full Monty in 1997.
America took notice and his next role was alongside Stephen Baldwin as Fred Flinstone in The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas and opposite rising star Chris Rock in Down to Earth.
Medieval romp A Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger followed and then Addy landed a part in the sci-fil thriller The Time Machine with Guy Pearce.
In 2002, he returned to Britain to star in the Midlands road movie Heartlands, with Michael Sheen and Celia Imrie.
Recent work includes a re-teaming of A Knight's Tale co-stars Ledger and Sharon Sossamon for the medieval whodunnit The Sin Eater.
