Finally, a good Jennifer Aniston film, after her career had undergone several false starts.
Under the guidance of Nicholas Hytner, director of The Madness of King George, the Friends star deploys her scatty charms to good effect as Nina, a New York teacher who falls in love with new flatmate George (Paul Rudd).
Unfortunately, George is gay. So when she becomes pregnant by devoted but overbearing boyfriend Vince (John Pankow), she has some big decisions to make.
A romantic comedy with a difference, the movie takes an unusual situation and fills it with humour and genuine emotion.
Both Aniston and Rudd (best known as the stepbrother in Clueless) are splendid, while Nigel Hawthorne makes a touching cameo appearance.
Allison Janney (from TV's The West Wing), Tim Daly and Steve Zahn are also in a strong supporting cast.
