Jackie Chan, the Far East's biggest star, went to Hollywood (well, OK, Canada) to make this energetic, engagingly shoddy, slam-bang action movie.
As with most of Chan's films, the plot is pretty basic.
Chan, still at his lithe best here, tangles with a street gang to protect a grocery store owner.
But that doesn't matter; it's enough to give us non-stop action and some pretty impressive stunts.
In fairness, these aren't as mind-boggling as in many of Chan's Hong Kong movies (Police Story, for example) and the Hong Kong players are dodgily dubbed, but it's still frantic, fast-moving, enormous fun that doesn't pause for breath - and provides a novel use for a hovercraft in the chase climax.
