Judy Greer

Judy Greer

Born: July 20 1975
Where: Livonia, Michegan, USA

A solid supporting actress, Greer has impressed in a series of scene-stealing performances in the likes of 13 Going On 30 and 27 Dresses.

The daughter of a mechanical engineer and a hospital administrator, she trained for almost ten years in classical Russian ballet.

"I don’t think that you can really be dramatic without being a little funny."

However, she switched her interest to acting and was accepted into Chicago's prestigious Theatre School at DePaul University.

After a variety of odd jobs - ranging from telemarketing to oyster shucking - Greer landed her first on-screen role just three days after graduation - a small part in the Jason Lee/David Schwimmer 1998 comedy Kissing a Fool.

She flew to Los Angeles for the film's premiere and never left, quickly landing a role in the dark 1999 comedy Jawbreaker with Rose McGowan and Rebecca Gayheart.

The same year she also starred alongside George Clooney in the David O Russell's tragi-comedy about the Iraq war Three Kings.

She subsequently had a series of minor roles in the likes of What Planet Are You From?, Sunset Strip and The Specials.

In 2000, Greer gave a standout performance as a suicidal filing clerk in the key scene opposite Mel Gibson in the comedy drama What Women Want.

The following year she played Jennifer Lopez's ditsy assistent in the rom-com The Wedding Planner and also played an waitress in the Spike Jonze drama Adaptation.

Roles followed in the spoof The Hebrew Hammer, the psychological drama I Love Your Work and the amateur porn comedy The Moguls.

She also appeared in the M Night Shyamalan thriller The Village and the rom-com 13 Going 30 alongside Jennifer Garner.

Next came the role for which she is probably best known - Kitty Sanchez in the American TV comedy Arrested Development.

Greer also appeared in the Wes Craven horror yarn Cursed and director Cameron Crowe's comedy drama Elizabethtown with Orlando Bloom.

Recent work includes the TV parody American Dreamz and the Elizabeth Heigl rom-com 27 Dresses.
