Although set aboard a luxury cruise liner sailing on her maiden voyage, much of this chuckle-inducing film, from the director of the 'Mummy' films and Van Helsing, looks as if it's been shot in an abattoir with rivers of blood, gore and carcasses liberally scattered across the decks. The perpetrators of this massacre are terrifying sea monsters who seize their opportunity to strike when a bunch of ruthless bandits, led by Wes Studi, renders the ship inactive. Only macho Treat Williams, with a little help from lady thief Famke Janssen, can save the day in a film that gets funnier and more overblown by the minute. Hysterical, in both senses of the word.
